Scents for the Heart
Apr 01, 2011 01:11AM ● By Doreen DeSerresAromatherapy is a useful tool in wholistic wellness including matters of the heart. These pure botanicals affect our emotional state which in turn impacts our physical health. All pure botanicals affect our mind through the sense of smell, our bodies through application and spiritually with their dynamic vibrations.
Essential oils beneficial to the heart include Bergamot (Citrus Bergamia), a cheerful uplifting citrusy scent that reduces stress by being mood enriching, and Rose Geranium (Pelargonium Graveolens) which helps to balance blood pressure and ease hormonal fluctuations. These two essential oils have been documented to help balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
Hyssop (Hyssopus Officinale) And Rosemary (Rosmarinarus Officinale) each offer stimulation of the respiratory system which opens up the breath, allowing oxygen to pump through the heart. Clary Sage (Salvia Sclarea) will reduce anger and frustrations, allowing the mind and body to relax and ease tension. Cypress (Cypresses Sempervirens) is a general restorative that will aid in circulation and assist in reducing toxins in the body.
The use of pure essential oils is multifaceted. They may be used in the atmosphere to be breathed in as well as incorporated in wellness massages and baths. The fact that all the essential oils are direct from nature adds into the spiritual dimension of healing.
Doreen DeSerres has been sharing her knowledge of pure botanical essential oils for over 20 years through her Nature’s Spirit product line. Doreen is offering two aromatherapy workshops related to matters of the heart: One for enhancing pleasure and passion, the other to help deal with heartache and disappointment.
