Pain, Pain Go Away
Ongoing research in Denmark and China has resulted in substantial evidence that reflexology provides relief for the majority of the participants. In China, seventeen participants 5 to 80 years old received a 30-45 minute reflexology session consecutively for ten days. Anthralgia (joint pain) was caused by trauma in five cases, and by arthritis in twelve cases. Eleven patients including the five trauma cases completely recovered. Four patients significantly improved. Two patients were unaffected.
When working with Anthralgia (joint pain) there are a few important reflex area’s to consider. The kidneys are known as the master chemists, they filter all of the blood in the body twice every hour. By stimulating the kidney reflexes we can help the kidneys filter the impurities from the blood which could affect the joints of the body. The endocrine reflexes should be stimulated as well. The endocrine glands secrete hormones or chemical messengers into the bloodstream which help the body return to a state homeostasis. The reflex areas for the affected joints should also be stimulated as this will bring blood to the affected area, providing a so called softening of the discomfort. All the reflex areas of the foot should be worked with any type of joint pain or arthritis. Spending 80 percent of your time on the direct reflex areas mentioned and 20 percent of your time on the rest of the foot is a sure method to help bring relief from Anthralgia.
