Annual Celebration of the Mother: Durga Puja
Kashi Ashram will hold their annual celebration of the divine Mother at Durga Puja, or Navaratri. Each night, you can experience a different sacred vedic fire puja to one of the goddesses Kali, Laxmi and Saraswati. (Kali Puja October 4; Laxmi Puja October 5; Saraswati Puja October 11, Durga Puja October 12.)
The final night is a grand procession around the Ganga. This ancient tradition of fire ceremonies is used for purification and cleansing and is full of symbology, color and sound. These pujas have been done at sacred Kashi for more than 35 years.
Participants may choose to attend individual pujas or attend for an entire weekend at Kashi Ashram. The weekend retreat includes all scheduled yoga classes on Saturday and Sunday and vegetarian dinners on Friday and Saturday.
All pujas start at 6.30 p.m. Suggested individual puja donation $25 (includes vegetarian dinner at 5 p.m.). Appropriate attire requested (no tank tops or shorts). Weekend retreat cost is $175 for two nights and includes dormitory accommodation. Call for other rates. Limited dates available. 772-589-1403 ext 0. Kashi, 11155 Roseland Rd, Sebastian.
