Tai Chi for Diabetes Course
The Tai Chi for Health system was created by a modern team of medical and tai chi experts as a safe, effective means of exercise. “Used by millions of people worldwide, this system teaches participants tai chi routines that have been proven effective for helping manage diabetes, easing arthritis pain, preventing falls, lowering blood pressure, improving cardiovascular fitness and more,” says certified instructor Lea Williamson.
Starting January 2, Williamson will lead the Tai Chi for Diabetes (TCD) routine in a 16-week semester in Indian Harbor Beach. Tai chi is a unique, effective exercise which incorporates traditional Chinese medicine with gentle movements. The slow, meditative motions are very different from Western exercise and act subtly to improve mind/body health.
“Safe exercise is important for good health and vital for diabetes management. Stressed people have poorer control of their diabetes,” states Williamson. “As the practice of tai chi relieves stress and provides moderate exercise, TCD can improve diabetes management and is a beginner friendly tai chi routine with numerous other health benefits.”
TCD sessions will meet Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. with online video support. To register early for discounted package price of $140 call 321-759-3141 or visit BeachsideQigong.com for full schedule.
