Herbal Summer Camp in Hobe Sound
Herbs & Owls is pleased to present a week-long herbal summer camp for kids 10 to 17 years old. The camp will be held Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Amazing Things in Hobe Sound and led by. Clinical Herbalist Gina Kearney.
Each day campers will make an herbal tea from various fresh and dried plants and will learn about the healing properties of these and other medicinal plants and how they can be used as tea and in herbal medicine making. They will make Heal-All Salve which is excellent for cuts, scrapes, bruises, and burns; elderberry syrup for colds; a roll-on Itch-Stopper for bug bites; and a moisturizing lip balm. Campers will deepen their connection to the plants through drawing and examining the details and will practice sitting in meditation to quiet the mind and connect with their inner guidance. They’ll also listen to sacred drumming to expand their imagination.
“We’ll spend our days learning about medicinal herbs, crafting healing potions, and opening our hearts, as we deepen our relationship with plants, Earth, and each other,” says Kearney. All participants will take home herbal medicine preparations.
Cost: $150 per child. Location: Amazing Things, 8949 SE Bridge Road, Hobe Sound. For more information and to register, call 516-984-4614 or email [email protected]. Visit HerbsandOwls.com.
