Sleep Strategies for Children
Apr 30, 2021 10:27AM ● By Ruth RodriguezProper sleep is essential to a child’s development. For children who struggle to nod off, getting adequate rest can be a challenge. Children with sleep issues do better with a daily routine that helps them fall asleep and stay asleep. Consider implementing these tips to help the little ones ease into a peaceful night’s sleep.
Daily: Make sure they get outdoor play and exercise for at least 30 to 45 minutes a day.
After Dinner: Evening is an important part of the day to follow a calming routine. No drinking after dinner to prevent bed wetting, a warm bath two hours after dinner and then dim all the house lights one hour prior to bedtime.
Bedtime: Lavender oil either diffused in the bedroom or on the bottoms of the feet can help, along with a bedtime story and soothing music.
