Serene Harbor Celebrates 30th Anniversary
Since 1992, Serene Harbor has served all individuals impacted by domestic violence in our community. What started as a 16-bed emergency shelter has turned into a 20-bed certified domestic violence center, with emergency shelter, 24/7 confidential hotline, injunction for protection services, relocation assistance, counseling, education, financial empowerment, and more.
“I am so very proud of where we are today,” says President and CEO Beverly DeMeyer. “We have expanded our outreach services, enhanced programs, and added services to ensure we provide everything our survivors need to live a life free of abuse.
Through labor and dedication to the community, Serene Harbor has provided over 4400 nights of safe shelter to survivors, 2300 hours of counseling, and over 3100 safety plans completed just for 2020-2021. “These achievements are made possible with a dedicated Board of Directors, knowledgeable and compassionate staff, committed community partners, and kind and generous supporters,” shares DeMeyer. “We thank the community for all the support. I look forward to many more years advocating for our survivors, educating our community, and empowering our survivors to live a life free of abuse.’”
Serene Harbor remains committed to helping all individuals impacted by domestic violence to succeed and to continue growing and healing from their experiences for many years to come.
